Samsung Achieves Top Rating for Security Chip

Already the leader in the enterprise, Samsung can now boast about their new security chip!

This rating comes from the Common Criteria for Information Technology Security Evaluation (CC), who created and uses an Evaluation Assurance Level (EAL) scale of  EAL0 to EAL7 - with a higher number being the best. Common Criteria has given this new chip a score of CC EAL 6+!

This is an improvement from the Secure Element chip in the Galaxy S20, which received a CC EAL score of 5+.

Not quite a 7, but this is the highest certification ever given, as of this writing, for a mobile chip. This component, known as S3FV9RR, will launch sometime in the third quarter.

Dongho Shin, Senior Vice President of System LSI marketing at Samsung Electronics, stated:
“In this era of mobility and contact-less interactions, we expect our connected devices, such as smartphones or tablets, to be highly secure so as to protect personal data and enable fintech activities such as mobile banking, stock trading and cryptocurrency transactions,”
